Make App Store’s MobileFinder Show Root

Collateral has came up with a very cool tutorial of how to make the MobileFinder app that you can buy off the App Store to show root. For this to work, you need to have a jailbroken iPod Touch/ iPhone and MobileTerminal or an SSH client installed.

How to do it: (MobileTerminal Users)

For Root (/) open mobileterminal and type:

login root
alpine
ln -s / /private/var/mobile/Applications/
XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX/Documents (all one line)

For Applications (/Applications) open mobile terminal and type:

login root
alpine
ln -s /Applications /private/var/mobile/Applications/
XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX/Documents (all one line)

And For people who want to use SSH way (credit to kingtigre)

using WinSCP you can just navigate to the Mobile finder directory…
/private/var/mobile/Applications/XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX/Documents

Right click>New>Link

Link/shortcut file: Whatever you want to call it. I called it “-Root” That way it appears at the top of the list.
Point Link/shortcut to: just put “/” in there.
